Bottle Trash

Garbage is not something strange to us. It seems like we wouldn’t be able to live without leaving garbage. The problem is that we often leave garbage that can be dangerous for the environment, and also harmful to humans and other living things.

One day I saw a student using a former bottle of mineral water that has been worn many times in days. Looks like she did it on the orders of senior in college, because that time was the new student orientation. I guess her seniors still didn’t know the dangers of using beverage bottles repeatedly.

I'm sure we have become familiar with a variety of plastic, such as plastic bags, plastic plates, plastic bottles, and others. But may be you never notice the logos that always be included on that bottles. It isn’t just a decoration, there is a message that the user should aware so that they can use that plastic wisely.

In the mineral water bottle, if we look at the bottom of the bottle there is a triangle sign with the number 1 in it. At the bottom of triangle, it is usually inscribed with PETE or PET (polyethylene terephthalate). It is used for plastic bottles as bottled mineral water and almost all other bottled beverages. BOTTLE TYPE PET / PETE is recommended only disposable. If it is too often used, especially when it is used to keep warm and hot water, it will cause the polymer layer on the bottle being melt and can cause cancer  (carcinogenic) in the long run.

So, it's better for us to avoid using mineral water bottle over and over, unless we can reuse it to be filled with oil or another things that are not directly consumed by human.

Remember! It's better to prevent than cure
